"My Role Model"

My role model is my dad. I chose my dad because he is a caring and loving father. He takes very good care of me when I’m very sick. He works really hard to provide us with our necessities. My dad is cool because he is trying his best to make my life better than what he had. He encourages me to try my best in everything I do. He tries his hardest to be a good dad to us. I thank God for my dad and also my dad for being the man he is today. I think he is doing a magnificent job being my father.

Career Expo!!!!!

A week ago, the year 8s got the opportunity to go to the Careers Expo at ASB show grounds. We all had the chance to view different career displays which might help us to set a target or pathway for our bright future ahead of us.
When we got there, most people were gathered around at the displays of their choice and found out what’s out there that they could do in the future.
It was really a great day and an awesome opportunity for me because it opens up my eyes to a wider variety of careers which I didn’t even think about such as police, air hostess and the army. My mind is set on those three careers. The hosts were awesome because they were answered any questions that we had asked.

Marae

A marae is a sacred place.

The marae, is a sacred open meeting area. It is the communal meeting house, the area with the greatest mana; and the place where Maori customs are given ultimate expression.
The marae is the turanga-waewae of the Maori. It is the hub of traditional Maori community life. It is where their customs and tikanga are taught. It is used for functions like: celebrations, weddings, christenings, tribal reunions and funerals.
A marae is a sacred place which served both religious and social purposes in Maori traditions.

Women are better Leader than men!

I believe that women are better leader than men. Firstly, women take on more responsibilities than men. Secondly they are more organising and last but not the least, women are stronger than men.
First of all, women take on more responsibilities than men. They look after the kids; do the cooking and some other house works. They involved in a lot of other activities such as church committees, school partnership with families. In most of our family functions, women are doing all the jobs and men are sitting around a circle drinking kava or involving in a deep conversation.
Secondly they are more organising than men because they iron the uniforms, making lunches and prepare everything the night before. They wake up early in the morning making sure the house is clean and tidy, prepare breakfast for children and also get themselves ready for work like my Mom. They check everything and make a list before going to do the shopping or they will give the list to someone else to do the shopping.
Lastly women are stronger than men because they carry babies for nine months and go through painful labor and who knows for how long. But still going to work and carry on with other house routines every day. So I strongly believe that women are better leader than men.
